AgentSpécial is a Swiss based limited company founded in Geneva in 2016 by Virginie Senftle, after she lived and worked in The Philippines for several years.
AgentSpécial designs upcycled fashion and decor accessories, repurposed from unused production overruns of packaging material rolls destined for landfill : The Doypack®, that are hand-woven by unprivileged Filipina women.
The Doypack© is more commonly known as the juices or puree packaging.
Each accessory is 100% handmade, 100% upcycled, 100% sustainable, 100% vegan.
The artisan team is composed of men and particularly women from remote or unprivileged urban areas in The Philippines to find gainful employment and autonomy in their local environment.
Not only does AgentSpécial focuses on environment, but also empowers less fortunate individuals to improve their lives. We prevent rural exodus for those living in remote locations while preserving, conveying and transferring the ancestral and artisanal weaving know-how.

While living in the Philippines many crafted accessories made out of various repurposed materials crossed my path. I always thought the idea was excellent while often not aesthetically meeting my expectations, either by the designs or the material.
The Doypack® is a packaging material primarily developed for the food and beverage industry made of aluminum and plastic.
Extremely thin and robust due to its composition and preservation characteristics, the material is soft, flexible while strongly resistant to high temperature variation, sun, rain and water repellant. There are no animal nor animal derivative components in our accessories.
Thanks to the different fruit juices or puree brands’ artworks, accessories made out of unused printed Doypack© rolls come out extremely colorful and vibrant.
I was also seduced by the idea to promote and preserve the artisanal hand weaving know how critically losing younger generation interest and slowly aiming to disappear.
Last but not least giving work and livelihood to the less privileged was closing the loop of a whole responsible and conscious concept.
It’s how I took the bet to design appealing styles and patterns that were to meet western market consumer taste aiming at creating a future proof sustainable and responsible enterprise.
I stated creating patterns and color assortments, develop collections and product styles that were going to be 100% hand made by “Magic Hands” out of 100% repurposed material, 100% unique in patterns and colors, 100% conscious and 100% animal component free. Les Tressés” were born.
30 to 50 artisans (depending on the seasonality) work on AgentSpécial collections every year. The teams are composed of strippers, folders, color assembler, weavers, sewers, sample makers as well as logistics, admins and quality control personnel. Each process and sub-process is entirely hand made from stripping to folding, weaving and stitching. I commute regularly to ateliers to develop collections, follow production and support the teams.
Although I provide style, color and designs, I strongly encourage and reward creativity and quality efforts, as well as new products development ideas.
I seek to elevate pride in artisans spirits, develop their sense of autonomy and responsibility in delivering state of the art designs and finishing quality. I also ensure everyone is happy every single day in making “Les Tressés”.
I’m inspired to revolutionize fashion and home decor accessories by creating high quality handwoven products, fairly made out of repurposed material while providing livelihood and work to the less fortunate women in valuing a traditional “hand-made” spirit.
With “Les Tressés” I am seeking to achieve a 100% sustainable and structured circular economy whereby we, I and the team, create a direct impact on environment and social responsibility while providing regular, sustainable, fair wages and work conditions to each worker.
The challenge is not only to repurpose the material from its primary function, but also to design aesthetical styles, patterns and color assortments.

Creating captivating patterns, matching and assorting colors depending on the unused rolls we collect is a real challenge as we have to work with what we get.

The preparation phase is long and complex as it involves the color selection and assembly as well as pattern design to be performed for each accessory before starting the weaving process.

From Switzerland into the wider world – that’s CALIDA’s motto. For over 75 years, the company has been transporting its values of sustainability, premium Swiss quality and contemporary design around the world. CALIDA is one of Europe’s leading underwear brands, representing innovative materials, outstanding craftsmanship and a passion for detail.
CALIDA has always believed in the importance of transparency. In 2016, the brand became the world’s first underwear company to introduce the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label. CALIDA works hard to maintain its role as a pioneer in sustainability, adding numerous new men’s and women’s styles to its MADE IN GREEN range every season. The children’s range has been fully certified since autumn 2016.
All products are developed in Sursee, Switzerland. The range includes daywear, sleepwear and loungewear, offering wearers maximum comfort and the perfect fit. In keeping with the mix and match principle, all Basic items and cutting-edge additions can be combined for a unique look. Thanks to its innovative fabrics and state-of-the-art material developments, the Daily Functionwear line comes with a number of valuable extra functions.
1941 sees the official birth of the CALIDA brand by the two founders Max Kellenberger and Hans Joachim Palmers. CALIDA starts producing women’s underwear. During and after the war, many women are relying on themselves, and with its ‘guarantee underwear’, which can be repaired for free, CALIDA proves itself to be a true asset to its female customers right from the start.
After years of deprivation, the world of fashion gave women a renewed chance to pamper themselves. Fashion designers created the New Look, and celebrated femininity with new elegance. The seamless CALIDA women’s brief helped create a slender figure, and the pyjama with the patented waist and cuff finish that prevented tops and bottoms from riding up, gained fame beyond the country’s borders.
Short sixties
The post-war generation wanted to be free of conventions. Skirts got shorter and shorter. And CALIDA launched new ideas. The turtleneck relaxed the dress code and could soon be seen in every colour throughout Switzerland.

For us, fashion is above all a question of elegance: feminine, timeless clothes which we want you to be able to wear for a long time, all the time. We have opted for small collections with permanent styles, so that you can always find your favorite pieces.
Designed by craftswomen with irreproachable know-how, our creations are wardrobe essentials where finishings make all the difference. Since we aspire to consume less but better and to give a new direction to fashion, we always give preference to quality rather than quantity to propose stylish clothes that are both beautiful and responsible.
We are convinced that stylish clothes are even more beautiful when they are eco-friendly. Guided by these values from the beginning, we accept no compromise. Each of our customers deserves to wear clothes that celebrate their femininity without the need to choose between style and ecology. Our approach combines both at each stage in the process of creation.
Our mission? To rethink sourcing and production codes around a 360° vision of ecology, in order to offer the luxury of 100% natural clothing, with the least impact, without cotton and designed according to a single requirement: sublimate women’s shapes.
Since there is no need to travel far to dress well, we have chosen natural materials produced locally to create pieces that have not travelled the world before ending up in your wardrobes.

We work only with local artisans. It is essential that each one works in conditions true to our values, this is why we ensure for all our partners a salary corresponding to their talent and working conditions favorable to creation.
Because it means a lot to us to preserve regional know-how, all of our creations have been designed between Vevey (Switzerland) and Marcollin (France). This also allows us to conduct ongoing quality control and permanently communicate with our artisans.

In 1993, graphic designers Markus and Daniel Freitag were looking for a functional, water-repellent and robust bag to hold their creative work. Inspired by the multicolored heavy traffic that rumbled through the Zurich transit intersection in front of their flat, they developed a messenger bag from used truck tarpaulins, discarded bicycle inner tubes and car seat belts. This is how the first FREITAG bags took shape in the living room of their shared apartment – each one recycled, each one unique.
With their innovation, the brothers inadvertently triggered a seismic event in the world of bag making. Its tremors have since made themselves felt in Zurich and the cities of Europe and spread all the way to Asia, making FREITAG the unofficial outfitter of all urban, bike-riding individualists.
Today the products are available in 26 FREITAG Stores as well as at over 300 resellers around the world. In the FREITAG Online Store there’s an extensive choice of over 4000 unique products.
The first F13 TOP CAT messenger bag has since spawned a full range of over 90 different models for all your carrying needs: from smartphone and laptop sleeves via backpacks and on to handbags, shoppers and travel bags. And since 2009, FREITAG has been paying tribute to the traditional art of bag-making with selective one-offs made from plain-colored vintage truck tarpaulins.
FREITAG has been at home in the Nœrd industrial complex in Zurich-Oerlikon since 2011. This is where the truck tarps we collect are taken apart, washed and cut to size.
In 2014, the bag-makers gave themselves a new raw material to play with: F-ABRIC. Developed in-house from the ground up, the rugged, completely compostable textiles are based on bast fibers that are produced using a minimum of resources within a 2500-kilometer radius of headquarters. F-ABRIC thus more than lives up to the FREITAG philosophy: We think and act in cycles.
FREITAG has not only committed to the circular, closed-loop economy but is also organized in circles: in 2016, the company, which still belongs to the Freitag brothers, abandoned the classical hierarchical structure and replaced it with Holacracy, a form of organization based on self-management.
Plagiarism, quotes, unique products and fake days of the week: for all those who weren’t able to read newspapers yet in the 90s or don’t live near any Migros stores, we’re going to tell you the story of the F52 MIAMI VICE.

In early 2015, we began to radically change how our organization works. Read on to find out what our aims were, how the transformation took shape and why we ended up adopting the Holacracy method.

It’s no secret that we’ll repair your injured FREITAG bag. Less well-known is the fact that we can even give a new lease of life to old, holey favorite bags. Our tarp surgeon Morena spills the secrets of her stitch-ups for the very first time.

Twenty years after Markus and I gave new life to old truck tarps, FREITAG has created for itself an all-new, biodegradable textile, that is produced right here in Europe.

I’m going to tell you a story I’ve told a hundred times before. I’ve rolled it out over business lunches, regaled fellow drinkers with it in bars and revealed it conspiratorially to companions over candlelit dinners.

Sophie got passionate about sustainable fashion during her studies back in 2018 when she started to realize that fashion is the second most polluting industry of the world and the fact there was no platform providing a large, beautiful but affordable sustainable offering with an unique customer experience and a strong mission to push small conscious labels. With a strong commercial and creative outlook, Sophie is forward-thinking, detail-driven & silently ambitious, managing the whole online-shop by herself.
I’m extremely happy to see that this destination has quickly become a reference in the online eco-community as being a go-to destination for highly curated but large, affordable, unique and incredible trendy product mix and experience. Thank you to everyone who is supporting me. This platform made many dreams of mine come true! – Sophie Brunner”

For our SS20 collection „North Road“, we had no classic inspiration as we know it, but set ourselves a challenge: to make a collection only with existing fabrics and not to buy new fabrics. We have created a collection only with our existing fabrics in stocks with a breath of Hollywood of the 1970s fused with Latin American folk and designed for the strong, modern and self-confident woman who sees herself as an icon and as a part of the gender equality movement. Long flowing fabrics and cuts mixed with ruffles and flounces symbolize strength and at the same time lightheartedness. A collection that harmonises well with the SS19 collection „Irreversible“ because our client adds new SANIKAI pieces season after season to their high quality wardrobe.
SANIKAI is a Swiss based ethical & vegan fashion brand that represents style & quality in a conscious way. Founded in 2015 in Zurich, SANIKAI works on a basis of responsibility for our only planet and the love of natural or recycled materials fused with Swiss perfectionism. Timeless design with the highest ethics & quality demands are the heart of SANIKAI’s philosophy. These positive values shine through at every level, from the manufacturers in Switzerland to the ready to wear garment, the material procurement and the entire CI/CD of the company. For every garment, SANIKAI pays maximum attention to fabric selection, fitting and perfect quality. The company’s core reflects a positive and caring attitude towards the conscious choice to embrace life and wake up dormant senses.
